We are just in the first quarter of 2021 and we are already monitoring several developing news that is important for the events and entertainment industry. In 2020, the sector was put to a halt after the Covid-19 pandemic broke out.
Here in Canada, 90% of event organizer businesses had to shut down to comply with lockdown protocols.
As the country makes great progress, we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Here are the newsworthy updates for event organizers here in Canada.
Online Casino is the New Normal for Gambling
There has been a huge spike among online gamblers here in Canada with most casinos shutting down for many months. Millions of Canadians found exactly what they are looking for right at home, on their computers.
This is not the case in Canada alone but in other countries as well including the US, New Zealand, and Italy. One particular online casino website that got a lot of user engagement since March 2020 was playamo-mobile.casino.
This is newsworthy for event organizers because they now need to cut down on their services targeting casino venues. Casinos and event organizers are working together for a long time now ever since the pandemic began.
Especially for casinos with a lakefront venue for events. Some casinos are reopening but are observing safety protocols that cut down on the number of people they can accommodate inside their premises.
Covid-19 Vaccine coming?
There are some candidates for the race for the Covid-19 vaccine. Many of them are in the final stage of human trials. The Canadian government is making sure that when a vaccine is available, at least three-quarters of Canadians will get it early on. That is pretty good especially when that vaccine is developed by another country.
There are also research centers in Canada making great strides in search of a vaccine. If everything goes well, most Canadians will be vaccinated even before the third quarter of 2021. This is big news not only for event organizers but everyone else, across the globe.
But we can’t deny that businesses and employees in the events and entertainment industries were heavily impacted by the pandemic.
A vaccine would give them a fighting chance to save what business they have left or at least start a new one.
Clients, everyone else going green
As we move forward to 2021, we have seen so many sustainable updates going around the globe. We are not just talking about recycling programs but full-on global preservation efforts across the globe.
That impacts the events organization industry. Clients are more inclined to see sustainable or green features at events. They might be referring to biophilic designs, recycled materials, etc.
That is why lakefront entertainment venues are more in demand even more so than in 2020. This year, we expect more lakefront events to take place.
To all of our fellows and colleagues out there in the event and entertainment industries, make sure to stay in the loop for these updates. 2021 is going to be a big year for us all and we should all work together to come out of this crisis stronger than ever.
